Introduction

Welcome to the first GRUG webpage. This is version one and is still in the development stage. Your feed back is important to allow this page to develop in a way that is useful and user friendly for those who are or are not computer savvy. For feedback comments please e-mail me at grug@nzimrt.co.nz .
The aim of this website is to guide you through to continuing professional development opportunities such as websites, interesting articles and books. Also included are a few tips on writing your evaluation form for the articles or websites you have read.

GRUG Newsletter

A GRUG newsletter is a regular feature of Shadows. If you wish to submit an article or item for the newsletter you will be eligible for one CPD credit under section 2.1 of Group 2:
Information and Technology Activities in the “NZIMRT Continuing Professional Development Certification:
Background and information requirements 2006” booklet. Please send items to grug@nzimrt.co.nz
  • Items need to be no more than 250- 500 words in length. Longer articles should be submitted as a separate article for publication in Shadows. All items will be reviewed and you will be notified if they are accepted for the newsletter.
  • The editor of the newsletter reserves the right to amend articles submitted for publication.
  • A certificate will be issued once the item has been published.

Are you interested in writing an article for the newsletter but can’t think of anything to write about?
Here are some ideas that may help you:

  • Write a report on an interesting case you have been involved with recently. Include a picture if you can and ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Write a review of an interesting article or book you have read relevant to general radiography.
  • Present a brief article on a topic you are interested in.
  • Write up a ‘new’ view you have discovered giving examples of when it should be used.
  • Do you specialise in a particular area of general radiography? Write a report on a new piece of equipment or technique you are now using, whether it is a new image intensifier in theatre or a new immobilisation technique in paediatrics.

Useful Websites:
http://www.radiographersreporting.com/
This website takes the viewer through the pitfalls of reporting x-ray images and gives examples of different types of fractures.

http://www.xray2000.co.uk/ and http://www.e-radiography.net/
Both of these links take you through to the same website. It is a U.K. based website and has among other things an image data base.

http://www.e-radiography.net/names/named_views.htm
This site is a direct link through to a list of named views from the website listed above. Each view has a brief description of the positioning and may include a reference. A useful site for finding those odd views that may be requested occasionally.

For access to this website you need to register, but registration is free. A wide range of topics is covered and you can register to have CPD articles sent directly to your e-mail address as often as you like so you don’t have to keep logging on to the site. Write an evaluation form and you have taken part in CPD. CPD couldn’t come much easier than this.
