World Radiography Day - 8 November

To recognise World Radiography Day 2011, the NZIMRT has made the following donations:

Fred Hollows Foundation: $1,000.00   www.hollows.org.nz
The Pacific region has over 80,000 needlessly blind and 240,000 with poor vision, with cataracts accounting for 80% of blindness.  In 2002 the Fred Hollows Foundation NZ commenced the Pacific Regional Blindness Prevention Program to tackle avoidable blindness.  Supporting primary health in the Pacific will help improve the overall health of our Pacific neighbours.

World Radiography Educational Trust Fund (WRETF) $1,500.00   www.wretf.com
The objective of the charity is to improve education in the science and practice of radiography throughout the world with emphasis on providing assistance to hospitals, schools of radiography and professionals whose need is greater than their financial means. In recent years the WRETF has supported Belize, Botswana, Eritrea, Indonesia, Malawi, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe with resources and educational programmes.

Travel Support Fund of the 2012 ISRRT World Congress: $2,500.00   www.2012isrrt.org
This fund has been established to assist radiographers from lower and middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank) to participate in the 2012 ISRRT World Congress and CAMRT Annual Conference in Toronto in June 2012.
